What is a 'locked' phone?
A 'locked' phone is a phone which can only be used with a certain network provider. Specialised code prevents the phone being used with SIM cards from a different provider, which makes changing to a cheaper or better supplier very difficult. Locking phones used to be a common practice in the industry, up until 2021 when it was banned. Whilst phones sold afterwards come unlocked as standard, many older phones are still restricted to specific networks.
